StopSmoke ("we," "our," or "us") operates the StopSmoke mobile application and the website at https://stopsmoke.net (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the Service.

1.2 Health Data

Our Service is a smoking and vaping cessation tool. To provide its core functionality, we collect and process the following health-related data ("Health Data"):

  • Daily cigarette consumption logs (number of cigarettes smoked per day)
  • Daily vape puff tracking logs (number of puffs per day)
  • Smoking and vaping quit date
  • Smoking and vaping usage baseline (e.g., cigarettes per day before quitting)
  • Health milestone achievement and progress data (e.g., improvements in circulation, lung function milestones)
  • Cravings and triggers you may log within the app

All Health Data is self-reported by you. We use this Health Data solely to provide the core cessation tracking features of the Service, including displaying your progress, calculating health milestones, and motivating your quit journey. We do not use your Health Data for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose unrelated to the cessation functionality of the Service. Your Health Data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used to build marketing profiles.

1.3 Usage Data

When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain information, including:

  • Savings goals and progress data
  • App usage patterns (features accessed, session duration)
  • Device information (device type, operating system version)

1.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect precise geolocation data, biometric data, financial account information (credit card numbers, bank details), or health records from medical providers. The Health Data described in Section 1.2 is entirely self-reported by you within the app and is not sourced from medical devices, health providers, or any external health system.

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To personalize your experience (savings calculations, health milestones, tracking)
  • To process your subscription and manage your account

2.1 How We Use Health Data

Your Health Data (as described in Section 1.2) is used exclusively for:

  • Calculating and displaying health recovery milestones (e.g., blood pressure normalization, lung function improvement timelines)
  • Showing your smoke-free streak and quit progress over time
  • Calculating money saved based on your reported usage and cost data
  • Providing personalized motivation and insights to support your cessation journey

Important: We do not use your Health Data or any other personal data for targeted advertising. We do not sell, share, or transfer Health Data to third parties for advertising, marketing, or data brokerage purposes. We do not build advertising profiles based on your smoking or health data.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers provided by our infrastructure partners (Supabase). We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • Access controls and authentication for all administrative systems
  • Regular security assessments and updates
  • Secure password hashing (bcrypt)

Disclaimer: While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data. You acknowledge that you provide your personal information at your own risk.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

  • Supabase — Database hosting and authentication infrastructure
  • FastComet — Website hosting and deployment
  • Expo / React Native — Mobile app framework

These third-party services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services, and our use of them does not constitute an endorsement of their privacy practices. We select service providers that maintain appropriate data protection standards.

5. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal data with any third parties for marketing, advertising, or any other commercial purposes.

We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
  • Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of StopSmoke, our users, or the public

We will never sell, share, or transfer your Health Data (smoking/vaping tracking logs, health milestones, quit progress) or any other personal information to data brokers, advertisers, or any other third party for commercial purposes. Health Data is only processed on our infrastructure and by the service providers listed in Section 4, solely for the purpose of delivering the Service to you.

  • Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
